OK, this guy is a stand-up comedian and shouldn't really be here but then he was always trying to get away with the whole "comedy is the new rock and roll" thing, and him and David Baddiel did manage to sell out Wembley Arena, the first comedians to do so. A few weeks before this show I'd seen him do a quick impromptu set at a new comedy club in Willesden and barely survive so I wasn't holding out great hope for him.
As it turns out he wasn't too bad but I don't think he seemed entirely comfortable in his surroundings.
Anyway, we were all rather surprised to see David Baddiel hanging around the bar at the interval as we'd been led to believe that him and Newman were not too friendly after their split. He was there enthusiasticall signing autographs. In fact he seemed a little too pleased for the attention. He'd even brought his own pen.
